Do you know the difference between littering and fly-tipping?
It costs Wales nearly £3 million each year in clean up costs for fly-tipping incidents which ultimately has to be paid by taxpayers. For 2008-09 there were 55,300 fly- tipping incidents in Wales with the majority of incidents occurring in urban areas by roads and involving household waste.
The Welsh Assembly Government is committed to tackling fly-tipping across Wales, primarily by providing funding to support the Environment Agency in Wales in its unique approach via Fly- tipping Action Wales style projects that focus on partnership working in conjunction with local authorities on a regional basis. Fly-tipping Action Wales works in three key areas:- education, partnership working and enforcement.
